Indeed Boolean Search for Resumes

Indeed's resume bar takes plain Boolean — documented. This guide adds a title:(...) filter of our own on top, plus the plain-Boolean fallback if your account does not parse it. Geography stays in the location box.

One brief, one Indeed string

Finance Manager, CA or CFA, financial modeling and SAP:

Indeed resume bar — paste as-is

title:("Finance Manager" OR "FP&A Manager") ("financial modeling" OR "variance analysis") (CA OR CFA) (SAP OR "Oracle ERP")

Lint this string

Indeed syntax rules

  1. 1

Lead with title:(...) — a filter this product adds. No Indeed-owned page documents it; if a search returns nothing, delete the filter and paste the keyword groups alone.

  2. 2

Follow with plain Boolean keyword groups — quoted phrases, uppercase AND/OR, parenthesized alternatives. Indeed's employer guide documents all of them.

  3. 3

Put alternate titles inside the title filter, never loose in the keyword groups: title:("Finance Manager" OR "FP&A Manager").

  4. 4

Set location in Indeed's location filter, not the string — a city term matches resume text, not geography. The generator now leaves it out.

  5. 5

No Google operators (site:, intitle:, filetype:) and no Naukri field codes — Indeed documents neither.

Test it without a paid tool

Indeed Resume is an employer product, so there is no public demo. If you already have a seat, open it and paste the string above. If the title: filter returns nothing, delete it and run the plain-Boolean fallback on this page.

Indeed search FAQs

How is an Indeed Boolean string different from an ATS string?

One addition: this product's string leads with a title:(...) job-title filter, then continues as plain Boolean. Indeed's own docs stop at the Boolean; if the filter returns nothing on your account, delete it and paste the keyword groups alone.

Why does my Indeed search ignore location?

City words inside the string match resume text, not candidate geography. Set location in Indeed's location filter and keep the string to titles, skills, and credentials.

Can I generate Indeed strings from a JD automatically?

Yes. The workspace generator writes the Indeed dialect — title filter plus keyword groups — from the live brief alongside the other five dialects, and the free JD to 3 strings tool covers starter ATS, X-Ray, and Naukri strings.
